Battlefield 6 Gamers Are Convinced: Tasks Are Way Too Hard
The release of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 received widespread acclaim, especially for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, concurrent player counts peaked at nearly 750,000. Yet, despite its popularity, a growing number of players are protesting against some of the game's hardest challenges, which are necessary to access certain guns.
Players have started resorting to personalized games set up using Battlefield Portal to complete them, highlighting just how arduous these assignments have become.
Comprehending Battlefield 6 Objectives
Assignments are Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, in contrast to the periodically changed daily and weekly challenges. It features four categories of assignments, but where most merely grant skins and a few gadgets, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of obtaining a dozen out of forty-one key firearms present in the game.
A number of these restricted firearms might eventually find their way on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Gamer Backlash across Reddit
On Reddit, players are understandably expressing their worries about how difficult and grindy several of these challenges are. An individual player pointed out one of the most outrageous examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
- Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs
"This mission is so terrible and entirely ill-conceived, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a quote that summarizes just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
The suppression feature in the game is more diminished than before in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many positive effects in fights as it used to in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
Meanwhile, firing an LMG without aiming is highly imprecise and functions solely at very short distances, which isn't typically where you aim to be. The same user also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that mission would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Ridiculously Tough Challenge
One more community participant highlighted an additional excessively hard challenge, this time in the marksman rifle class to access the PSR:
- Get 150 headshot kills from more than 200 meters away with marksman guns
This is challenging enough as it is, but there's one more key thing to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at such a long range.
There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but because there are just nine battlegrounds in the game currently, it implies you must stick to playing one of the larger locales, a particular valley environment, and maybe a classic map if you're lucky if you want to snipe from beyond 200 meters.
The Alternative Method
However, there is a solution: Battlefield Portal. This portal feature is a system that permits you to create personalized matches on whatever map you choose, complete with bots. This implies you can exploit the mechanics… but it isn't truly in line with the spirit of the game.
However, when tackling the tasks in a normal session feels like anti-playing, since you are forced to participate in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can fault a player for finishing these in a custom game so squad members are not disadvantaged?
Potential Changes
It is expected if a number of these missions are toned down in the near future, because should they remain unchanged, a portion of the user base simply won't get their hands on the locked firearms.
Currently, the player base continues to express their views on these demanding multiplayer missions, anticipating a fairer player experience in coming revisions.
